Our Support Groups
Our online support groups provide safe havens for our adoptee community to unite, share experiences, and support one another.
“The Dunbar Project have been a lifeline for me. I think they have quite genuinely helped keep me here. They've certainly helped me flourish. They created a free ‘Adoptees Healing’ community for adoptees to come together and heal through educational and healing workshops, fun activities and food!
Finding other adults who have similar experiences, speaking the same emotional language as me has been really amazing.”

Trauma-informed.
Inclusive.
Intersectional.
Our founder established our adoptee healing support groups following extensive research on the mental health experiences of Black adoptees. In her exploration, Shania uncovered Multiple Minority Stress theories, highlighting the protective role of community for trauma survivors. However, individuals belonging to multiple marginalized groups may face heightened discrimination. Hence, our support groups take an intersectional approach to ensure inclusivity. This led to the creation of three distinct adoptee healing groups.
