Here is a description of what we spoke about:

As adoptees, we understand the hurdles faced by those seeking essential support and resources. Individually, we've taken the initiative to create platforms that address these needs. Each of us, as adoptees, has embarked on a unique journey, converging in the establishment of our respective organisations dedicated to supporting fellow adoptees.

Recognising the ongoing challenge of identifying available support, we warmly invite you to acquaint yourself with adoptee-led organisations in the UK. Join us for an enlightening evening where you can deepen your understanding of our work and freely inquire about any concerns. While the event welcomes everyone, we'll conclude with a dedicated session for adoptees to share and reflect.

The UK Adult Adoptee Movement: We formed to give adult adoptees a voice in the wake of the JCHR inquiry report in 2021. We provide a platform for adult adoptee voices to be heard and a community where we can come together. We also educate on the lifelong impact of adoption, advocate for adult adoptees to receive appropriate support, and highlight past adoption practices with the goal of improving outcomes for adoptees of all ages. Find out more here: www.adultadoptee.org.uk

How To Be Adopted: Claire Moruzzi founded How To Be Adopted as an adoptee blog in 2017. Gilli Bruce and Lara Leon joined the organisation in 2020 and 2021 respectively. How To Be Adopted now connects adoptees across the UK and beyond via online and in-person events and peer support groups. Its impact has been described as ‘life-changing’ by adopted people, who appreciate the ‘support, guidance and honest truths’. Find out more here: www.howtobeadopted.com
